Doggett and John Deere Team Up for Habitat House Build

On May 14th, Doggett Heavy Machinery Services employees were honored to volunteer alongside John Deere employees to build a home with Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County in Beaumont, Texas. The John Deere Foundation donated $1M in 2017 for the Habitat Hammers Back campaign to assist in the long-term recovery of communities following Hurricanes Harvey, Maria, and Irma. This Beamount project was related to Hurricane Harvey recovery. Over 40 employees from Doggett and the John Deere construction and forestry division were pleased to work diligently on the project which included hanging doors, installing baseboards, and painting the entire exterior of the structure. John Deere blacksmith, Rick Trahan, was on site where he treated the group to a demonstration of his craft and presented the homeowner with a specially made trivet for her new home. Originally from Port Arthur, Texas, Trahan drove over 18 hours with his portable metal working station to volunteer his time for the cause.

“Doggett has a commitment to serving the communities in which we do business," said Mike Ortiz, VP of Doggett Heavy Machinery. “We have been involved in Hurricane Harvey relief from the time the storm hit. Our articulated dump trucks were used for water rescues in the Beaumont market in 2017. Now we are proud to serve alongside our colleagues from John Deere and participate in a Habitat for Humanity project..
